Huisje / House

Tot december werkte ik voor 2 lokale organisaties. Door omstandigheden is daar sinds januari verandering in gekomen. Ik werk nu nog enkel voor ADEPES, Asociación de Desarrollo Perspirense, Pespire. Dat betekent: een verhuis!
Pespire is een klein maar mooi dorpje in de uitlopers van de bergen in het Zuiden van Honduras. Zonder supermarkt of bar, maar compleet met de gewoontes en tradities die met een klein dorp gepaard gaan. Uiteraard hoor het concept: "Iedereen kent iedereen" daar ook bij. Om een huisje te zoeken hier heb ik dan ook handig gebruik gemaakt van de uiterst efficiënte lokale tamtam. Een paar woorden aan strategisch geplaatste personen en het hele dorp was met mij een huis aan het zoeken.
Mijn oog is gevallen op een klein ding in het centrum dat de eigenaars net aan het renoveren zijn. Een paar kleine onderhandelingen met de eigenaar (en hij met zijn vrouw) verder, had ik mijn huisje - mét betegelde douche (wel buiten zoals hier gewoon is) en een keukentje. Alleen de kleur van de verf kon ik niet meer kiezen. Ik zal dus moeten leren leven met roze muren... Foto´s en adres volgen na verhuis!

Till last December I was working with 2 local organisations. Now, through circumstances, that has changed. The only organisation I still work with is ADEPES, Asociación de Desarrollo Perspirense, in Pespire. That means: time to move!
Pespire is a small but nice little town in the mountains in the South of Honduras. No supermarket or bar, but complete with the habits and traditions that come with any small town. Of course, the concept of "Everyone knows everyone" is well established here. So to look for a new house, I used the very efficient "grapevine". I dropped a few words to a few strategically placed persons and in no time a whole town was looking for a house with me.
Eventually a little place in the center that is currently being remodelled has caugth my eye. A few negotiations further with the owner (and he with his wife), I am the next tendant of the place - with tiles in the (outdoors) shower and a small kitchen! Only the colour of the paint wasn't up for discussion anymore. Which means I'll have to learn how to live beween pink walls... Photos and new address will follow after the move!
